I have been dusting off the tools and doing some jewelry making again.  I have really been enjoying working with leather.  Below are some pics of recent creations.

You had me at Wrestling.......

Sounds weird right.  I am a full on Football Mom.  I am talking bling wearing, pom pom bearing, football mom.  My oldest son however is a a wrestler.  He is passionate about the sport. I was searching for a gorgeous line of sports jewelry to offer our football Moms, and I stumbled across designer Rachel Miller, based in Westlake, CA. Not only did she have the most beautiful sports jewelry I have ever seen, no cheap bling here. This is all designed by her.  With triple layered metals (18K gold or rhodium) and all hand set sworovski crystals, it is gorgeous. When I saw her line in person I was floored, the pictures I had seen do not do it justice. But then.....she showed me the wrestling headgear she had designed.  There isn't much jewelry for the wrestling fan.  It is positively beautiful.  I was planning on buying a few pieces on spec, and offering them at our homecoming event.  I decided right then and there, that I wanted to rep this line.  She cares so much about the design and quality of each piece.  I pick them up at her home, and deliver them to my customers.  Small, I know, but I have no doubt this business will grow.  I will put a couple of pics here for you to get a taste, but I hope you will take a look at my new website to see the whole line.  http://www.shineonmamma.com












I have always enjoyed making jewelry. I get inspired by colors, patterns, and especially vintage brooches, chains, and medals. I am hoping to sell my designs at home shows and boutiques this year. Let me know what you think, your comments are welcomed!

I have designed not a single thing since I started consulting again. Inspiration tends to come in spurts for me, maybe in the summer time when work is slower. (I am praying that it won't be slow though! :)

How I came to know Him

I am helping to prepare a baby shower for a young woman at our church. She is young, just 22. Thinking about her, and what the future may hold for her and her little family, got me to thinking about life at 22. Much has changed for me since I was 22. That was really a difficult time. I didn't realize at the time that it was difficult. I had graduated from college, was having a post college, pre-real life, super good time. I was bar tending, partying, picking up and traveling to far away places to party some more. I didn't really have much in the way of financial responsibility yet, and my parents were living in Egypt-- leaving me in charge of the house and my younger sister. It was an "out all night, sleep all day", kind of life. To be honest, I was setting a pretty poor example for my sister, who at the time was working full-time at a nursing home, and was far more responsible than I was. Quiet days of Summer- Ha!! Lol....

Summer is a wonderful time if you have the luxury to stay home with your kids and enjoy the slower pace.  Lazy days, pool time, reading, outings, and spending time at the beach is good for the soul.  If you are a parent who keeps your kids home with you vs. sending them to camp--- there is also a dark side to the lazy days of Summer. I know many Moms who say loud and proud, "I can't wait till Summer!! Oh yeah! Only 3 more weeks!!, Oh no! It's over already! We need a few more weeks!!" Are you one of those? Do you say it with a straight face? Ok, maybe you are sincere.  Bully for you, you win the Mom medal. Those are NOT my people.  I love my kids, don't get me wrong, I really do.  I love reading time, and lego time, and swimming, and picnics at the beach-- as much as any other Mom.  Let's get real for a minute though.  We can't play down the other side of life with kids. Sunny Days

Some days I just wake up full of hope, and energy, and am excited about all life holds for us. Today is one of those days. I don't know why I feel that way, nothing is different from yesterday. The sun feels a little warmer, more people seem to be smiling, perhaps my imagination, maybe not. Tuesday is a super busy day for us, lot's of activities, practices, etc... --- so today is a good day to be filled with optimism, it will help me get through the tougher moments between 3-6pm. Driving, homework, dinner prep, more driving, all that good stuff. Thank you Lord for days like today, when my normal load, feels light. I appreciate the energy, the warmth, and the smiles. Amen
