Clean Living

Friends, I have no idea what has come over me, but I am ON FIRE with ideas for how to live clean!  I feel like the scales have been removed from my eyes or something! It is wild, and fun!  For a DIY girl, to discover that I can make my own,

Vitamin C Serum
Moisterizer
Body butter & Scrubs
Toner
Shampoo
Conditioner
Toothpaste
Deoderant
Sunscreen
Fragrance

Lipstick/gloss/balm
Concealer
Mascara
BB Cream
Blush
Bath Oils
Medicines (antibiotic ointment, headache treatment, tummy releif, pain releif)
Vapo rub
Dishwasher detergent
Home cleaning products
Air fresheners
The list goes on!!
And that I know every ingredient in them is safe for me, my husband, my kids, my dogs, my guests...... it is just the coolest thing ever!!! Now I fully understand that this would not be fun for everyone.  I am a crafty girl, and have always enjoyed this type of thing.  So turning my kitchen into a lab is not a big stretch.  My kids find it HILARIOUS to see me mixing and concocting my recipes, and funneling things into jars and bottles, and putting pretty lables on things.  I am in heaven.  The best part is, THE PRODUCTS ARE AMAZING. Who would have ever guessed that apple cider vinegar with essential oils would be the best conditioner I have ever used? Or that the hand soap I keep in my bathrooms rivals the luxury of the most expensive soaps you can buy, they smell so delightful. My skin and hair have never looked better, my teeth have never been whiter or healthier, and I am having so much fun.  Of course, being a sharer, I want to share the the joy.  I want to teach people how to do this.  I want people to love natural products as much as I do.  So if you want to learn, let me know.  If you just want to try products let me know.  But most importantly, start looking at the ingredients in what you are using, and start eliminating the most dangerous toxins from your products.  If you are not inclined to mix up your own batch of toothpaste, lol--- there are good products out there.  Ava Anderson Non-Toxic is a good place to start.  My dear friend Beth Spooner can help you out with that. She is happy to do one on one or group consultations, her link is on the home page of my blog. In the interim,  I am including some good information in this post to help you be an ingredient detective.  Live Clean friends!

Quiet days of Summer- Ha!! Lol....

Summer is a wonderful time if you have the luxury to stay home with your kids and enjoy the slower pace.  Lazy days, pool time, reading, outings, and spending time at the beach is good for the soul.  If you are a parent who keeps your kids home with you vs. sending them to camp--- there is also a dark side to the lazy days of Summer. I know many Moms who say loud and proud, "I can't wait till Summer!! Oh yeah! Only 3 more weeks!!, Oh no! It's over already! We need a few more weeks!!" Are you one of those? Do you say it with a straight face? Ok, maybe you are sincere.  Bully for you, you win the Mom medal. Those are NOT my people.  I love my kids, don't get me wrong, I really do.  I love reading time, and lego time, and swimming, and picnics at the beach-- as much as any other Mom.  Let's get real for a minute though.  We can't play down the other side of life with kids. The constant fighting The whining The meltdowns (yes one of our guys st...

New season of renewal & refinement

I am a girl with strong faith.  Strong, blind, childlike faith.  My atheist friends are bewildered by it.  They cannot understand how such a smart woman would believe such "nonsense".  I have no explanation other than, I just do. I preface this post with that statement because, you won't find me quoting scripture here.  Though I would if I were more confident in my ability to do so competently.  I do not have that confidence, never have.  I am a believer.  My belief has been nurtured by life experience, by answered prayers, by constant evidence that God cares about me.  I see his hand in big things and small. I look to him for guidance and help in all things.  I am not a Biblical scholar.  I have always been somewhat insecure about that.  I am bolstered up by the words of a Godly woman much wiser than I who assures me that "I am living my walk out loud".  My faith is not in my knowledge of the scripture, but in the...

On my own

How do you know when you are getting too detached? How do you know when your dependence on God has morphed into a routine, self-reliant life?  It is very easy for this to happen.  The world is designed with a myriad of distractions to pull you away from what is truly necessary in your life, and into the world with all of it's shiny things. It is very easy to gently and quietly slip into this state of self-reliance when things are good.  If everyone is healthy, the ship isn't sinking, the job is good, and in general life seems peachy-- who needs God? Uh, oh.....that kind of apathy sounds a little like an unintentional prayer for God to bring you to your knees. Most people feel closest to God when they are at their weakest. When we know that it is only through him that we can be at peace with our circumstances, we seek him.  We look see his love for us in the little things.  He is not a magician God that is here to entertain us with wonders, but it is through th...
